Jan Rog: Creating Opportunities Through Language

Jan Rog is a vibrant member of the English Faculty at Metropolitan Community College-Longview.  Her compassionate, commitment to her purpose of teaching her students the English language runs deep.  Inspired by her parents’ perseverance and courage (a mother that worked tirelessly to earn a college degree with five small children and a father who was a refugee from Poland) Jan believes fervently that language connects people, enables them to advocate for themselves and allows them to grow.  Her purpose goes beyond simply working toward teaching her students a new language but she encourages them to make positive new contributions and excel in the United States.  Jan explains her purpose best in this short video clip .
